A port/remake of the original ELDEN VINS mod for Elden Ring
Complete combat rework with lots of edited movesets, skills, spells and movement animations to make the combat more similar to a blend between Sekiro and Devil May Cry.
This is meant to be a whole different experience from vanilla, and fun is the main focus, while trying to be as balanced as possible to keep the difficulty aspect of the game.
Explanation below of what this mod includes divided by sections, for the installation method go near the bottom of the page.
COMBAT:
Most weapon classes have a completely new moveset, ashes or war and spells were reworked from making them faster to completely new interpretations, all using a massive amount of new animations from other action games.
The movement speed has been slightly increased, and changed animations for dodge, backstep and run for the ones that don’t have unique animations for it. Also new animations for throwable items, and most consumables can be used on movement.
- Every nightfarer can now deflect when holding a melee weapon with both hands. However, it is easier to deflect as Executor when using his stance skill. Keep in mind you can cancel the attack animations of most weapons with Guard (deflect) and dodge cancel windows are generous, which will allow you to play more aggressively. Deflecting doesn’t cost stamina anymore, in fact, you now recover stamina with successful deflects.
- Weapon attacks don't consume stamina, which is now used only for movement (sprint, dodges...) and blocking
- Like duchess, every character now follows the light attack combo between dodges. Useful to get to the last hit of the chain and be able to perform the Heavy Finishers more consistently (more info below)
- When dual-wielding/powerstance, you can still block/deflect with the standard input, and powerstance attacks can be performed with the light attack input.
Greatswords/Curved Greatswords, Axes/Hammers, and Greataxes/Greathammers are now compatible weapons, which means that if holding one of each, the left hand attack input it will perform the powerstance attacks instead.
STYLE RANK / ULTIMATE ATTACK MECHANIC:
Successively hitting enemies, deflecting and perfect dodging grabs will increase your Style Rank. Each rank, you’ll get an attack boost: the higher the rank, the more your attack increases. Reaching the last rank will make your body glow with white lightning, which will let you consume all your Style by unleashing an Ultimate Attack by pressing the heavy attack input with your right hand weapon, which will deal a ton of damage (in case of the bow or staff/seal, you have to do the Ultimate Art input instead of heavy attack, making sure the weapon is on your right hand).
Most weapon classes have their own ultimate. Keep in mind the Style gauge is always decreasing, so you’ll have to play aggressive to reach the highest ranks. Spells, arrows or other projectiles don’t usually gain as much Style as melee weapons, but they are very useful to keep your Style from decreasing. The “Style Rank Meter” talisman enables this mechanic, and every hero starts with it. All weapons types can use the Ultimate Attack except whips, torches, handguns and shields. Perfectly dodginggrabs will give you a lot of Style.
HEAVY COMBO FINISHERS:
Most melee weapons have now a special attack on their moveset, usually performed by pressing heavy attack input after the last light attack of the chain (only while two-handing the weapon). Some weapons have a 2nd additional special heavy attack that can be performed after the heavy finisher.
For Greatswords, Hammers, Greathammers, Colossal Weapons, Colossal Swords and Scythes, the heavy finisher acts like a 3rd charged attack, and is performed by using charged heavy attack after the 2nd charged attack while two-handing.
These attacks are usually the strongest of the set, and often make use of i-frames and poise increase during their animations.
FEINTS:
As in vanilla, holding charged attack and pressing the dodge input without any direction will perform a feint. This mechanic was adapted and included on the majority of weapon types, and was improved by giving i-frames in most cases so can be used as dodges. These are a safe way to cancel out of charged heavy attacks, and enable taking more risk in combat and being more aggressive with the charged attacks.
Affinity/Elements:
Weapons with specific element or affinity will have different new behaviors, which I took some from Fun Is Allowed mod (F.I.A. onwards) and edited or simplified them to better fit this mod:
Fire: apply “burn” stacks on hit which will do continuous damage over a short time. The damage is small, but can be stacked indefinitely
Lightning: mark enemies with attacks and trigger lightning strikes with successive hits on marked enemies
Magic: consecutive attacks make you drain FP over time
Sacred: heal HP on hit

Some weapons have some extra moves while 2-handing. Experiment with the moveset in all types of handling, most have different movesets depending of where the weapon is being held!
Dualwielding two weapons of the same category make you able to use powerstance attacks with the standard attack button, and block/deflect with the block button (previously powerstance attacks in vanilla).
Bow moveset was reworked and every nightfarer is able to use it, so it's a viable option even when not playing as Ironeye. Left hand moveset and aim attacks keep the original moves, but faster.
Crossbows are now Handguns, a great range weapon. The moves are different depending if holding with right or left hand. The fire rate speed will be higher if you aim with them (L1/LB/RM while 2-handing).
With a pistol on the left hand, shooting a nearby enemy at close range at the right time can parry their incoming attack (similar to Bloodborne)
Weapons won't recoil when hitting a wall while swinging an attack.
Bare fist (unarmed) buffed, now dealing around the same damage as an unupgraded Caestus
“Rally” effect (recover HP by hitting enemies for a short time after being damaged) is active by default for all nightfarers (from F.I.A.).
Holding a seal or a staff will make you regenerate FP over time. Catalysts' V-Rank Ultimate Attack is casted by the character Ultimate Arts input, same as the Bow ultimate, both the Style Rank and the Ultimate Gauge must be full and the weapon must be in the right hand.
Stamina consumption of weapons have been severely decreased
WORLD / NEW ENEMIES AND ITEMS:
Any weapon looted in a run will have a chance to have an unique weapon art equipped. Catalysts will also have a mobility ash of war equipped.
Enemy HP scaling was increased, along with enemy poise. These values will be changing as I watch more people playing and I balance the mod with the updates.

NEW ROGUE-LIKE INSPIRED PASSIVES:
Added +60 new passives you can get as rewards from bosses
Can be passives that enhance a weapon class, others enhance the Nightfarer's skills, or a powerful buff attached to a curse!
All of them are really powerful, and meant to be combined between them to achieve fun synergies!
there'll be more in the future, but these actually take long time to make so be patient :))

NIGHTFARERS:
Wylder: Skill has faster cooldown and the base charges were increased to 2. With the relic that makes your ultimate art leave flames on the ground, you’ll also leave a trail of flames when pulling yourself with the hook.

Recluse: “Mana Shield” mechanic by FIA mod, with my edits. After consuming three mana charges, you’ll generate an elemental mana shield depending on the elements mixed, and will cast additional magic when draining FP in the next few seconds. The mana shield protects you from the next hit, exploding and dealing elemental AoE damage. Most of her Mana Cocktail spells were reworked and their cast speed has been increased too.
Also, on collecting three elemental residues from two different elements, Recluse will cast a different spell with her Cocktail skill depending on which element has two charges, so she has now 6 more spells in her skill roster.

Ironeye: Skill base charges increased to 2. Reworked Bow moveset, now with a combo chain like other weapons.

Executor: Demon Blade stance (skill) has a new moveset, with Crucible inspired heavy attacks. The weapon art on the stance was also changed, both the base attack and the charged (glowing) one. Crucible Beast (ultimate) now can shoot a crucible golden laser when doing the roar attack. Changed its Remembrance Skin.

Raider: Keeps his exclusive moveset, was sped up and its heavy attacks were changed. Faster skill cooldown and animations. Enhanced Ultimate Art.

Revenant: The first two summons were changed to stronger enemies. Sebastian has increased damage and HP. Her ultimate will now summon all three spirits at once for a while, and the Relic’s added ghostflame explosion was enhanced. The Revenant's Claws now use the modded claws moveset.

Scholar: Improved special rapier moveset, with special heavy attack. Starting skill is now Blood Tax

As Skin Overhaul mod got discontinued, I got permission to add most of the skins from there and include them by default in the mod!
OTHER TWEAKS:
- New in the Jar Bazaar shop:
- Added "Night's Blessing", new relic gacha with 3 random effects from the Deep relic effects, for the standard relic slots.
- Added "Deep Night's Blessing", new expensive relic gacha with 6 random possitive effects, for the deep relic slots.
- The character now has by default 3 talisman slots and 6 item slots. Two more item pouches can be bought in merchant shops during a run.
- Increased the max amount of consumable items you can stack. Most effects from those consumables had doubled their duration.
- Changed visual effects of some greases and added new trail effects to affinity weapons.
- Flexible Relics by Vawser is included: you can equip any relic no matter its color.
- Passive effects ike "Trigger X when walking" will now also trigger while running (holding dodge input, not the surge sprint)
- Hero Skins and Relic gacha prices were halved.
- Field of View (FOV) increased (thanks to this great mod included), needed to properly see the character with the new motions. It’s set to 65, for the mod I recommend around that amount or at least more than 60. You can change it in mod/dll/NightreignFPSFOV/config.ini along with the FPS limit to match your monitor's frequency rate (Hz).
INSTALLATION:
1. Download and install ModEngine3 (not the mod manager, just the installer on the github page)
2. Download the mod and extract the “ELDEN VINS NIGHTREIGN” folder in any folder of your choice (make sure it's in the same disk as the game at least)
3. Run the file OPEN-THIS-TO-INSTALL-SKINS.bat to extract the new weapons and skins files. This file will move itself to the trash bin once finished unpacking.
4*. You can open mod/dll/NightreignFPSFOV/config.ini with notepad or a text editor to edit the FPS lock to match your monitor’s frequency, and also edit the FOV to your liking (recommended more than 60 FOV) - (Optional step, default is set to 144fps/Hz and 65 FOV)
5. It’s ready! Now you can launch the mod by opening the ELDEN VINS NIGHTRIGN.me3 file inside the same named folder. You can make a shortcut of this file to your desktop. You’ll know everything worked if you see the custom main title screen and the Server Redirector pop up message. (Make sure Steam is running for the game to launch)
**You won’t get banned playing this mod because Server Redirector prevents you from connecting to FromSoftware servers and uses a different save file.
You can easily port your save from vanillaor SeamlessCoop to the new alternative save file used by Server Redirector, just go to \User\AppData\Roaming\Nightreign and inside your steam id folder there, just copy your current save and rename it to NR0000.CL_SAVE (yes, changing the file extension)
You can play the mod with friends by inviting them through Steam as usual, or search for a game through matchmaking just like in vanilla! If there's people playing the same version of the mod and looking for an Expedition for the same boss/bosses, the Server Redirector will perform matchmaking and create a lobby, seamlessly working as it does in vanilla.

It is recommended to play this mod in English or Spanish (??) for the new items and passives' text. Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Portuguese(??),French, German and Russian translations can be downloaded from their mod pages. You can also find them all out in the Translations tab at the top of this description page. These translations can be applied by copying their folders inside this mod's /mod/msg/ folder
If playing in a language without translation, the text of the added things will be in english
*SOME OF THE TRANSLATIONS ARE NOT UPDATED, ANY TRANSLATION FILE FROM BEFORE v1.5 UPDATE WON'T WORK*
ALTERNATIVE INSTALL (replacing game files with Nuxe, not recommended): Download and open Nuxe, “Unpack” all game files, next “Patch” game files, then copy the content of ELDEN VINS NR/mod folder into your game folder and overwrite all the files. Then add EldenModLoader files to the game folder and copy the NightreignFPSFOV file and folder from this mod's mod/dll folder to your game location's mods/ folder.
FREE REIGN MERGE: Just drag all files from its “Mod” folder to this mod’s “mod” folder except the regulation.bin file and the msg folder. Overwrite when asked. Keep in mind that FreeReign is not compatible with the Ascension Trials, and installing Freereign will disable Ascension Trials and can make you lose your Trial's progress
